28 years after he last braved formal education, Stephen Britt, Managing Director of Suffolk’s Anchor Storage, has accepted an invitation to become Presiding Fellow of Suffolk New College in Ipswich.
One of twenty-five fellows appointed last year to enhance the students’ learning experience and to promote the Further Education college throughout the region, Stephen is honoured to have now been invited to lead a strong team that includes local luminaries such as David Sheepshanks chairman of Ipswich Town Football Club, Nigel Pickard editor of the Evening Star, and Tony Rich Registrar of the University of Essex.
He says ‘I first got to know Professor Dave Müller, the Principal of the college, through the Suffolk Dining Society, of which we’re both members. It is a great honour and privilege to have been invited to be the Presiding Fellow and I am thoroughly looking forward to getting stuck in to my new role.’
Anchor Storage offers specialised warehousing and distribution services to importers. Stephen has already presented Suffolk New College’s first year Business Studies NVQ students with a series of lectures on Distribution. ‘This is new territory for me’ he says. ‘I never thought I’d find myself giving lectures in college as opposed to receiving them! However I’ve got plenty to say on the subject of business and it’s great that the students are so willing to learn.’
