Anchor Storage : Generating More Than Just Goodwill

The GeneratorSuffolk's Anchor Storage is generating more than just goodwill in the local community, having recently donated a 13kw generator to the Town & Bridge charity project in Ipswich.

The generator will specifically benefit the People's Community Garden, a growing project on Maidenhall allotments in Ipswich, where it will provide electricity for lights, heaters and computers for the Project's on-site office until such time as a more permanent energy solution can be found.

Susannah Robirosa, co-ordinating the People's Community Garden project, says 'our aim is to help people get and stay healthy and happy. All sorts of people either work on the garden or just come here to enjoy it and meet others. We are open all year round and man the office during working hours every day, so the generator is going to make a huge amount of difference to all of our lives. Anchor Storage's kind donation is keeping us lit, warm, well-powered and happy!'

The Town & Bridge Project is a One-Ipswich initiative, hosted by ICVS (Ipswich and District Council for Voluntary Service). The project provides a variety of activities and support to encourage people over the age of 45 living in the town centre and Stoke Bridge areas of Ipswich, to be healthy, fit, active and well. The People's Community Garden, which forms a part of the Town & Bridge Project, aims to get people of all ages gardening, eating healthily, exercising and having fun. The project was begun with a People's Millions award from the Big Lottery Fund.

Stephen Britt, managing director of Anchor Storage, says 'I am delighted to be able to help out with this worthwhile project, and if our generator helps to make the volunteers' lives a little easier and encourages more people to get involved in the Community Garden, then that is great.'
